I pull my smart phone out of my pocket, I click an icon on the home page opening Google Places.
I select "restaurants", bearing in mind --- I have not used my fat fingers to type anything onto a mini- keyboard at all!
Google Places know where I'm located because my device doubles as a tracking beacon.
Google display restaurants closest to me on a map.
I Click an Icon...
... A page loads. It has directions and information about that restaurant. Of even more importance, I see customer reviews.
I Click Another Button...
... I see a list of search results for restaurants near me and I filter by discussions, I see a list of Twitter updates, Amazon and restaurant reviews that were posted by the people I know, like and trust across the social web.
One More Click...
... I send a Tweet, text or call someone In my social network who has been to a restaurant on the list, using my smart-phone.
I select a restaurant that has come with the social proof of a personal contact's endorsement --- clicking through to the restaurants website off of their Google Places page.
I like the look of their website.
I click another link to call them on my smart phone.
I book a table over the phone using the same device (my new digital hub) that I used to start my local web search, only minutes ago.
