What's Your Website Conversion Rate?

Do Not Waste Money Buying Traffic Until You Have Optimized Your Landing Page

My advice to all my clients is always the same: "Do not waste money buying traffic until you have optimized a landing page."

It doesn't matter what quality of traffic you pay for, if your landing page is not converting that traffic at an optimum rate you are leaving money on the table. A poorly converting landing page is the same as putting a salesperson you know cannot sell, at the counter of a retail shop. You would not pay a bond on a retail outlet, spend a fortune fitting it out, pay a sign writer to advertise your frontage and run ads in the local newspaper to get new prospects in the door....then leave it to a sales person you know cannot sell to convert inquires into sales.

It doesn't matter if the traffic you were getting into this new shop was quality targeted traffic from the best referrals in town, or if it's cheap remnant traffic from a discount voucher found in the local homeless shelter's food basket.

A Poor Converting Salesperson Greeting Inquiries Will Not Convert Them Into Sales...

... and nor will a poor converting landing page. To the contrary however, a landing page that's written, designed and optimized by experts....one that converts extremely well, is just the opposite. It's like having a world class sales person fielding all your inquiries, one that's able to sell ice to Eskimos if you need them to...

...with a few exceptions. This new sales person works 24/7 and 365 days. They won't take sick leave and won't answer back. It doesn't matter if the traffic walking into your shop (landing page) comes from the best or worse referrals. Your salesperson (landing page) is going to convert every prospect that can be converted. What's knowing this sales machine is in place going to do to your willingness to invest in more attention (traffic) into driving more traffic to it?
